Project kick-off and Trip #1 recap
The Mansfield Parks & Recreation Master Plan and Financial Sustainability project is underway!
The week of February 13th saw a series of community and staff engagement meetings and workshops take place including visits with Town Council, as well as numerous focus groups and interviews with civic leaders, park and recreation users, community organization representatives, and department staff members.
These touch points with various members of the public and professional staff enabled the consulting team to ask questions and learn about community-wide issues and interests and will help inform the development of the department’s master plan.
In addition to the focus groups and interviews, there was a Public Workshop held at the Mansfield Middle School where members of the public were invited to learn more about the process and make their voices and opinions heard through various questions and interactive exercises. For those that weren’t able to attend, there is still an opportunity to participate through the virtual version of the workshop which is available online through February 24th at this link here.
Immediate next steps in the process include researching and analyzing Mansfield’s demographics and community profile, reviewing park and recreation trends, and the beginning stages of the department’s financial sustainability work which will include conducting a cost of service analysis.
